Let's Talk About the Cast

See your favorite Sex in Seattle actors play completely different roles in our brand new show - Cowboy Versus Samurai! Ray Tagavilla (who played the dastardly Harold Chinn in Episodes 11 & 12) gets to play the romantic lead in Cowboy Versus Samurai! Joining him are Jose Abaoag (who's played Colin in the past few episodes of Sex in Seattle) as the fervently political Asian American adoptee and Travis Myers (otherwise known as Nathan from Episodes 4 - 6 plus 13) as the sensitive but masculine - you guessed it - white guy! Joining them will be new to SIS fans but not to Seattle audiences - Khanh Doan (Miss Saigon, Sleeping Beauty, Another Day In Baghdad, Baseball Saved Us).

Let's Talk About Interracial Dating

Sex in Seattle isn't the only production that deals with interracial dating. SIS Productions knows our audiences will love our upcoming show because it deals with many of the same themes your favorite episodes do! Cowboy Versus Samurai is a hilarious new play that explores the intriguing political dynamics of race and gender.

Meet Travis, an all American Korean guy who teaches English in a small town in Wyoming. He enjoys small town life, hanging out with his friend Chester, the only other Asian American in town, and his other friend Del, who's white. Along comes Veronica Lee, a beautiful Korean American woman fresh from New York City. Travis and Veronica get along great, but Veronica "prefers" dating white guys, so Travis helps his white friend Del "win" Veronica's love. This pisses Chester off, who believes that Asian American women should only date Asian American men. Who ends up with whom? See Cowboy Versus Samurai to find out!

So let's talk about interracial dating - Should Asian Americans stick with their own? What if you're more attracted to someone of another race? Why do Asian American women date white guys in such high numbers (Asian American women outmarry at significantly much higher rates than Asian American men do) as opposed to Asian American men with white women? Why should Asian American women have to explain themselves if they do? What if the men they fall in love with just happen to be white? But why does that seem to be happening more and more? No wonder Asian American guys are frustrated! "Cowboy Versus Samurai" explores all these questions and more!

Let's Talk About Asian American Adoptees

Cowboy Versus Samurai has an intriguing cast of characters, of which the most unique is Chester. Meet Chester. Chester happens to be adopted. He's Asian American and his parents are white. He lives in a small town in Wyoming and is looking to connect with his Asian roots. The only problem is, he doesn't know what he is. Chinese? He does idolize Bruce Lee. Or Japanese? He is pretty gutsy with the heart of a samurai. Perhaps he's Vietnamese? Family is very important to him. Maybe he's Korean? Afterall, his best friend and only other Asian guy in town is also Korean. Does it really matter what he is? To Chester it does. Having been adopted by parents of a different race and growing up in a small town where everyone else is white, Chester values the importance of his true cultural heritage. Only he can't seem to find it since his parents don't know and his only knowledge of what being Asian American is comes from stereotypical media images. What's an Asian American adoptee to do? Watch Cowboy Versus Samurai to find out.
