Seattle's 6th Asian American Playwrights' Festival
Daniel Arreola has been a Seattle based actor/writer since 1997. Past local credits include Sex in Seattle, West Side Story, True West, Fool for Love, Big Hunk of Burnin’ Love, SMORGASBORG at Balagan, and The Twilight Zone with such companies as Degenerate Art Ensemble (NY), NWAAT, ReAct, SIS Productions, 14/48, Theater Schmeater, The Film School, 48hr Film Festival, Pork Filled Players, Screenwriter's Salon, Vital 5 Productions, NW Afternoon, and 99.9 KISW. Daniel also has film, producing, photography, and directing to his credit.
Maggie Lee is the lead sketch writer, as well as an actor, producer, and panda wrangler for the Pork Filled Players, Seattle's Asian American sketch comedy group. She has also designed lights, props, and puppets for Pratidhwani, SIS Productions, ReAct Theatre, GreenStage, Macha Monkey, Open Circle Theater, and Theater Schmeater. In 2006, she adapted H.P. Lovecraft's The Thing on the Doorstep for OCT's The Colour Out of Space, and collaborated on OCT’s original Lovecraft-inspired show Necronomicon in 2008. In 2010, she wrote for 14/48 and Balagan Theatre’s Greetings from Styx, and her play Kindred Spirits was produced by ReAct Theatre. This year, she wrote for Balagan's new park show King Arthur and the Knights of the Playground, moderated a panel on Asian American Women & Comedy at the National Asian American Theater Conference in LA, was featured in the REPRESENT! Local Playwrights' Showcase at ACT, and had a short play, The Sunshower Bride, commissioned for Live Girls! Cupcake Reading Series. She has a BA in English and a minor in Lighting Design from UC Berkeley.
May Nguyen is so excited to be a part of the Insatiable! for the third year in a row! May is a scientist by day and spends all her spare time as a writer/performer/producer with the sketch comedy troupe, the Pork Filled Players, and SIS Writers Group where she was a writer and performer for the ArtsCrush 2011 Live Theater Week kickoff event at the Maxwell Hotel. Additionally, she was only wearing her producer hat for SIS Productions' most recent show, Year Zero. Other recent happenings include SketchFest 2011 with PFP and Revealed! Immigrant Tales from the Urban Jungle with SIS Writers Group. Favorite past shows include four episodes of Sex in Seattle with SIS Productions, Kindred Spirits with ReAct Theater, and Pork Fiction and Living Dead in Denmark with PFP. Much love to friends and family for their love and encouragement.
Zheng Wang is an independent filmmaker and all-around creative person. As a writer/director/producer, his recent film work includes feature documentaries My Eating Team Has a Paddling Problem and Hope, Ghana, short films Family Time and Morning Before. They have screened at a dozen film festivals worldwide and won two awards. Zheng first ventured into theater during graduate school as an actor (The Oldest Profession), director (Beyond Therapy), and producer (Arcadia). Since moving to Seattle ten years ago, he has been a long-time fan and supporter of SIS Productions, and acted in stage readings of Sex in Seattle episodes. In 2010 he created and produced the original dance show Dare to Dance. Outside of film and theater, his favorite activities include dragon boating and flash mobs. Zheng is excited to make his playwright debut in Insatiable 6. He would like to express deep gratitude to the SIS Writers Group, and his many friends who have supported his creative endeavors over the years.

Kathy Hsieh is an award-winning actor, writer and director. Her scripts have been produced by the Northwest Asian American Theatre, Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre, and featured at the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival and 14/48.She was selected by a national panel for the National Asian American Theatre Conference to showcase her playwriting at The Guthrie and her acting/writing at Mixed Blood Theatre, both in Minneapolis in 2008. She was selected by The Dramatist Guild as one of "50 to Watch" in The Dramatist Magazine's July/August 2007 cover story. She created the concept for Sex in Seattle along with her friend Moi and has written thirteen scripts for the episodic series. As an artist she has been honored by the National Association of Asian American Professionals in Seattle as their Artist of the Year in 2003 and by ArtsFund in the same year. By day she works for the Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
Roger Tang is a theatre veteran of three decades, who began his career as a designer for David Henry Hwang and Philip Kan Gotanda. As a writer, he is the author of Third Generation Heritage and numerous sketches for the Pork Filled Players. As a producer, he helmed the Northwest premieres of Gotanda’s Dream of Kitamura, Genny Lim’s Paper Angels and Hwang’s Bondage. He has taught Asian American history at the University of Washington and was instrumental in building the Theatre Off Jackson as Development Director for the Northwest Asian American Theatre. Called the "Godfather of Asian American theatre" by A. Magazine, he is Managing Producer for the Pork Filled Players (Seattle’s oldest sketch comedy group), sits on the board at Repertory Actors Theatre, edits the Asian American Theatre Revue and administers the aa-drama mailing list. As well, he is a sound designer for various local theatres.
Serin Ngai was the original playwright of the comedic Sex in Seattle series who co-created and wrote episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7. She was also a founding executive producer of SIS Productions. Serin has written sketch comedy (OPM) and her work has been seen on stage in Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. In addition to playwriting, Serin is an actress who has appeared in independent films and performed with various local theater companies including SIS Productions, ReAct, Seattle Public Theater, Experimental Theater Project, and Book-It Repertory. Serin is also an attorney who practices family law and general civil litigation. She would like to thank SIS, the SIS Writers Group, and her husband Richard.
Richard Sloniker is a writer, educator, and actor who has performed throughout the Puget Sound region with production companies including the Washington Shakespeare Festival, The Seattle Children's Theatre, Book-It Repertory Theatre, The Village Theatre, and SIS Productions. His plays have been seen on stages for Theatre Creatures and the Northwest Asian American Theatre. He has also spent several years developing and directing acting and digital media production classes for the Seattle Parks and Recreation at Asa Mercer, Denny, and McClure Middle Schools. Richard is currently working toward his MFA at the University of Washington in their Professional Actor Training Program.
